Where do you book a table in the Village when the corner restaurant at Paseo Delicias and La Granada is closed for a rebuild and the Ranch Clubhouse dining room is still being finished? For the first half of November, the answer is a short list of smaller rooms and a handful of civic events on one block of Avenida de Acacias. After the fifteenth, the month starts to fill back in.
The Corner Building Goes Quiet Until Mid-Month
Nick & G's, at 6106 Paseo Delicias, closed on October 19. Its own website says it will stay closed through November 15 while the restaurant is refreshed. The restaurant hasn't announced a reopening day. The San Diego Union-Tribune reported only that it would return "with a brand new look in November."
The building has been through this kind of change before. According to the Union-Tribune, it is a Lilian Rice design from the 1920s that was first the home of the Millar family, one of Rancho Santa Fe's earliest families. It was Delicias for 24 years and briefly Ponsaty's. Sandra DiCicco-Bonar of the Grand Restaurant Group opened Nick & G's there in 2017 and named it for her children, Nicolas and Gianina.
The new version will look and taste quite different. The Union-Tribune describes a California-Italian menu built on handmade pastas, pizzas and seasonal shared plates, along with a redesigned dining room and bar and new private event and patio spaces. Chef and partner Alex Carballo worked out the design with Rachael Lorraine Harris and Michael Soriano. The look draws on the Amalfi Coast, with shades of yellow, orange and blue and plenty of greenery. An olive tree will stand at the center of the dining room among new custom banquettes. Guests will be able to see through a new wine cellar into a lighter bar and lounge, and into the kitchen.
Gianina Pickens, the "G" of the name and chief operating officer of Grand Restaurant Group, told the Union-Tribune how the family sees the timing:
"As we approach our 10th anniversary, we wanted to honor what our guests have always loved about Nick & G's while creating something fresh for the next chapter."
Carballo's resume includes Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens and Fox Point Farms, and he was the opening chef at The Crosby Club. Speaking to the paper about his own goal, he described it as "meeting the high expectations that this community does have."
What Carries Paseo Delicias Through the Gap
Two Village spots that didn't exist a year ago make the closure easier.
Paseo Pizza and Gelato, Jennifer Fields' shop at 6024 Paseo Delicias, Unit D, held its grand-opening weekend September 25 and 26. When the Union-Tribune covered the opening, the shop was open daily from noon to 9 p.m. It is the only place on Paseo Delicias serving pizza while Nick & G's is closed.
Around the corner, Rancho Sandwich and Creamery at 6110 El Tordo covers the daytime hours. The family-owned shop serves breakfast, lunch and soft serve. In the paper's June report, its hours were Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The best-known table of the first half of the month is a fundraiser at Mille Fleurs, 6009 Paseo Delicias. The Vision of Children Foundation is hosting its "Gathered in Gratitude" Vintner Gourmet Dinner there on Wednesday, November 11, from 5 to 9 p.m. B Cellars is pouring the wines, and Bertrand Hug is creating the menu, as the Union-Tribune reported.
One Block of Avenida de Acacias Holds the Civic Calendar
The Village's restaurant street is between openings, so much of the November calendar sits a short walk away on Avenida de Acacias, where two addresses fifteen numbers apart carry most of it.
At 17040 Avenida de Acacias, the Rancho Santa Fe Library is showing "Cityscapes," an exhibit by members of the Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild, through November 20. A reception with refreshments and music is set for Thursday, November 12, at 5:30 p.m. Earlier that week, on Saturday, November 7, at 10:30 a.m., the branch is hosting a clay jewelry workshop led by Samira, with supplies provided. Space is limited. Registration opened October 1 online through the county library or by phone at 858-756-2512.
At 17025 Avenida de Acacias, the Secret Garden hosts the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club's Holiday Brunch & Speaker Series on Thursday, November 19, at 10 a.m. Arborist Wes Marshburn will give "An Expert Arborist's Guide to Healthy Trees & Plants," and BelleCal Seasonal is catering the brunch.

The Clubhouse Runs on Its Own Timeline
The Ranch Clubhouse dining room is being rebuilt this fall too. The Rancho Santa Fe Association's Ranch Clubhouse page still lists the clubhouse restaurant as closed for renovations, with the Snack Bar open to members in the meantime. The page gives no reopening date.
The target date has already moved once. A November 2025 Union-Tribune report projected an August 2026 reopening. At a September 3 update, Association Director of Planning and Development Maryam Babaki said the new restaurant kitchen was close to ready for service, pending fire department approvals. Flooring was going in indoors and decorative tile was being laid on the expanded patio. Golf Club staff had moved back into their refreshed offices, so the temporary trailers were due to leave the site soon. The paper's September 7 report said the project was on course for a fall opening. The finished clubhouse will have a new lobby entrance and a more open restaurant built around a central circular bar.
That gives the Village two redesigned dining rooms due back around the same point in the season. Each has a bar at its center, and one serves the public while the other serves members.
Thanksgiving Closes the Month at Lilian's
The one major holiday meal already on the books is at The Inn. Lilian's at The Inn is serving Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, November 26, from 1 to 8 p.m., at 5951 Linea Del Cielo. The price is $195 per adult plus tax and gratuity. Thanksgiving falls eleven days after Nick & G's posted closure ends. If the reopening holds to that window, the Village will have its full set of dining rooms back by the holiday.
December, by Last Year's Calendar
For the Village's two best-known December events, last year's dates show roughly when to expect them:
- Rancho Santa Fe Stroll and tree lighting. The 2025 edition, the third annual, was Thursday, December 4. Carolers walked through the Village, and the tree at The Inn was lit at 5 p.m., as the Union-Tribune reported.
- Library Guild Holiday Tea and Tree Raffle. The 2025 tea was Friday, December 12, from 1 to 4 p.m., back at the RSF Library on Avenida de Acacias, according to the Library Guild's event page.
The Garden Club has already set one December date. Its members-only Holiday Wreath Making Workshop is scheduled for December 14, 2026, at 10 a.m. at The Secret Garden, so the same block of Avenida de Acacias that carries November also opens December.
